Jára Cimrman's Lighthouse

The Unofficial Heart of the Jizera Mountains If you're looking for a place where the genius of the most famous Czech fictional polymath meets breathtaking nature, then you've come to the right place. Jára Cimrman's Lighthouse in Příchovice (near Kořenov) is an absolute unique gem that you simply must visit – and from our windows, you have it in the palm of your hand! This original structure is the youngest wooden lookout tower in the Jizera Mountains and immediately became an icon of the entire region. What makes the Lighthouse so exceptional? Ingenious Architecture: The lookout tower was designed by acclaimed architect Professor Martin Rajniš. It is built from pine wood harvested directly from the surrounding forests, and its construction is a unique example of so-called "natural architecture". A lighthouse in the middle of the mainland? Yes, Cimrman refused to be limited by the sea. According to legends, the master left an indelible mark on the region, and a lighthouse amidst the mountains is precisely the kind of humor that will capture your heart. A View That Takes Your Breath Away: After conquering 115 steps, you will find yourself at a height from which a panoramic view opens up of the entire Jizera Mountains, Krkonoše, and you can even see as far as neighboring Poland.
